being back in vancouver is really nice. i love this crazy surreal future impossible city of mine. new job is really exciting too, learning tons AND it looks like i am going to be doing some pretty decent traveling over the next couple months, which is really awesome!
that being said, moving forward i am likely going to be focusing my writing efforts more on modemgirl.ca so please update any links / bookmarks / network voodoo as you see fit :) and i promise to start using capitals. maybe. unlikely.

yes. dark psy + full moon = PSY PSY PSY PSY PSY PSY PSY PSY PSY

found this guy swimming in the sand of the full moon party like his life depended on it. bet he felt awesome the next day!

also, the group i was with had an agreement that every time we heard this awful, awful song in the background, we would immediately chug every drink in our possession. TONIIIIGHTS GONNNAA BE A GOOOD NIIIIIGHT

wow. home time in a couple hours! really looking forward to the walk down 10th from city hall station, although the weather network tells me its still raining in vancouver.
asia has been good to me, but im looking forward to going home. life, love, friends, exciting new job, the seawall, SIMON…. if january is any indication of how the rest of this year is going to pan out i think ill be ready if the mayans turn out to have been right.
my trip home is rediculously efficient and symmetrical - 10 minute walk, express train to airport > flight > express train from airport > 10 minute walk.
COMMENCE KITTEH PETTING
oh and on a completely unrelated note right now im listening to the lost constellations which is a dj mix i did back in 2009. its really not very well mixed, but i met a dude last night who is a drummer in a hardcore industrial band and sometimes djs psy trance so i was telling him about my attempts to combine the two, which this is one of. GABBERPSY!! really stoked that my ableton controller is waiting for me when i get home…. id given up that it was ever going to show up and actually emailed them to cancel my order in the name of financial responsibility but then TADA! its there! so turns out ill be able to lock myself in my apartment and make music until im out of debt. :)

ok, tokyo is officially awesome. my first day got better once i had a nap and some food with new friends. the city is so clean and efficient and organized. anyone who knows me at all will understand the mass appeal this has for me, especially after a month in thailand, which is basically the complete opposite in every way.
yesterday in the morning i wandered down to harajuku and checked out the crazy fashion down takeshita-dori, which is where all the gothy punk lolita kids hang out. lots of second hand shops and crazy coloured things, my seventeen year old self was pretty happy and i bought some crazy coloured tights and pink and grey touch sensitive gloves that let you use your iphone without taking them off. how sensible of me, i know.
later i met up with a friend of a friend and we checked out the meji shrine, ate giyoza and then took the train over to akihabara so i could gawk at the insanity for a bit, but by that point id had enough shopping so we headed over to ropoggongi hills to check out the tokyo city view from the 52nd floor of the tower there, which was awesome. this city really is HUGE.
later on i met up with another friend who took me out for dinner at gompachi, which is where tarantino got the idea for that really cool fight scene in kill bill (the one thats set in a japanese restaurant, obviously.) going out to eat with someone who speaks japanense and has good taste is definitly key - sooooooo good. ate a ton of sushi and various japanese dishes that were all sooo yummy, drank delicious sake (including a sake mojito which was awesome) and later i deposited myself in my bed extremely exhausted and delighted with day two in tokyo.
today im going to head back to akihabara, maybe go to a maid cafe, and perhaps do some shopping for random weird souveniers for all you lovlies back home, which i havent done at all yet. hope you all like anime chicks with huge cyber boots because i know i do! ive also got directions to apparently the best maid cafe in town, in the donqehote building…. we`ll see if i can manage that on my own. ive got an invite to hang out and drink with a bunch of non-otaku game industry folks tonight so that should be fun, and i head home tomorrow!!!
oh, also, i just found out that there`s an AKAI APC 40 waiting for me at tom lee when i get back! WEEEWW! only like four months of backorder, and apparently most of the orders STILL havent been filled, but i think my 5834905 hilariously convincing emails to the customer service dude worked their charm and he set one aside for me. SHHHHHHHH ^_^

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok i need to sleep. seriously. EARLY CHECK IN 2PM MY ASS. hahahah sorry i am travel angry and waiting to check into my hotel after being up since ohhhhhhhh 445am yesterday morning. its now 1pm. i napped on the plane a bit but not really good sleep, although thai air is really swell and i would recommend them. the plane i flew in was EFFING HUGE (i was in row 65 and not even at the very back if thats any indication).
got in this morning and got my tickets for the express train from the airport that turned out to be more fail than express - im not sure if perhaps today was just a bad day because there seemed to be a lot of issues due to accidents with lines being cancelled and stuff, long delays at the stations and then finally i reached the stop before mine and theyre like ok everyone off. now you get to go learn how to use the regular train system because there was an accident and this train is closed. so wheee! thankfully it was pretty straightforward (yamanote line is the one that does a big loop around the heart of the city) so i just had to hop on there… then switch trains once for some reason… and then get off at shibuya and somehow navigate through this rediculously huge station and find my hotel which was only about a 15 minute walk away. through the intersection in the picture i posted, while carrying all my shit (hula hoops and all) and being awake for a million hours.
finally found the place and it turns out that my friend who booked the hotel for me used the wrong name to book it so i had a bit of a challenge explaining that to the people there but eventually i convinced them and they told me my early check in would be ready in three hours and i almost started to cry. PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER WOMAN! time for some lunch…. and apparently japanese restaurants in japan DONT SPEAK ENGLISH. obviously i expected this but still a little intimidating on no sleep all alone and looking totally haggard. oh well. i found a place and had some delicous food!
also i found a CAT CAFE across the street. yes you can pay to play with a cat for an hour. i have another hour to kill till i can go have a damn shower and NAP - i think some kittehs will be just the thing.
tokyo i know i will love you soon!

my cabin overlooking the ocean at blue horizon yoga. i get to live on spiritulina shakes, coconut juice, enemas and yoga for the next three days. i could not have asked for a better way to end my time in thailand (except for the enemas… havent had one yet but the jury is still out on that whole situation).

the studio is a wooden platform in the jungle next to the water. teacher / coordinator mel is from australia and really awesome. rest of the crew will be here soon. not eating warrents very little energy but all i have to do is chill out in my tie dyed patio hammock and finish my current book (memoirs of a geisha, which is making me want to get to
kyoto even more!)

full moon. wow. awesome. full on huge ass rave on a beautiful beach under a gigantic full moon.i went in with lowereeeed expectatiooons and was pleasantly surprized. the music was decent, the douchebaggery was dilluted with enough black light paint and smiling faces it was easily ignored. i trolled up to magic mountain to enjoy the view but didn’t partake in any of the special shakes they have there - the beach is seriously the perfect space for a party.and there was dark psy. GET YER STOMP ON. and i did. made it till the sun came up and then rabit and i hopped on a cab back to our quiet little paradise on the other side of the island. all in all a great success, and i’m glad to say i only drank one drank bucket so i’m feelin fine today.oh! and i got space in the yoga detox that rabit and crew are doing :) i’m so stoked. my last three days on the island / in thailand and i finally get the full on yoga enema i was hoping for. (literally)i love that there’s no cell reception here, and that the internet is hella expensive. forcing me to unplug properly. the beach and my book is beckoning!

island dreamin

finally found my wooden hut in the jungle, a stones throw from the ocean. crickets that sound like eletricity, the birds have samplers, the water has sharks that look at you menecingly but don’t bite.

looking into doing a three day yoga detox before i head out next week, after the full moon party, which is tomorrow! some new members have joined our tribe and they know where there will be dubstep, so that’s defintely good.

we’ve been having a lot of business meetings, making charts, with up arrows, and stocks soared last night. we’ve also successfully evaded tourist murdering coconuts and HULA HOOPED ON THE BEACH LAST NIGHT. finally!

it’s rabit’s bday today so we will find some fun shortly. or i’ll go back to reading in my hammock as the symphony of wildlife plays in the jungle. the jungle (in tourist friendly size) is pretty sweet. the island is srsly THE BEACH. the internets is expensive and slow so you probably won’t hear from me for a couple days. wheatgrass is free and colonics are (hopefully) optional at this detox. eeps.

one night in bangkok! much, much better than the last. we met up with an awesome friend of a friend on a rooftop bar in sukhumvit and had some great adventures involving drinks at a super rad house/bar, a manicial tuktuk driver (note to the game developers out tere, can you make grand theft auto: bangkok?) and then off to a dance party at a huge club. unfortunately night clubs apparently piss me off as much here as they do anywhere else - it was a really cool space but impossible to get a drink and the only room that had a bumpin dance floor was the one playing top 40 hip hop crap - but thankfully i was with good peeps and there was balloons to make animals and rude gestures with so overall the night was a success.
visiting a city with a local is definitely way better than wandering around like a tourist! i’d write more but i’ve been on here long enough already as my SD card required some medical resuscitation as it’s been slowly losing it’s mind over the last few months and i was a bit worried that i might lose all my photos. seems to be working now so fingers crossed it survives the rest of this trip!
i also went back and updated some of my older posts after uploading but tumblr just isn’t wordpress and it’s proving to be more of a hassle than anything, so check them out on flickr if you want!
